Just to let you know: the project is still actively maintained :)
Although it seems that people are not so interested anymore in the topic. I could see the visitor statistics declining from around 650 unique visitors per week in mid-2011 to around 40 in the last week.
However, I just updated the technical backend for the layer and am working on an app for Android and iOS.
The new backend brings you, the visitor, hopefully, more reliability and speed. For me, the developer, it brings a more pleasant experience developing it ;)
If you encounter problems or have suggestions, etc., feel free to contact me.
As soon as the app is ready, I let you know.
Thanks to all that share an interest in the topic and this format of presenting the information!
The layer is up now since some 2 month and has attracted quite some visitors so far. I still like to write a bit more about it, but right now, this general description has to do it:
This layer shows all nuclear power plants all around the world with links to their reactor details and (if available) a Wikipedia link. Filtering is possible according to state of operation. Default language is English.
Also available in German:
Dieser Layer zeigt alle Atomkraftwerke auf der ganzen Welt mit Links zu Detailinformationen über die Reaktoren, sowie zu Wikipedia (falls verfügbar). Filterung ist nach Betriebsstatus möglich.
I’d be glad, if you’d spread the word and like to share information!
Here is the direct link to the NuclearSites layer.
If you click it on your mobile device and have the AR browser “Layar” installed, it will open right in the browser.
Just submitted my Augmented Reality layer “Nuclear sites" to the public Layar directory and awaiting approval. Should be up within the week!
